SYMPHONIC ANNIHILATION: A TALE OF DEATH AND SUFFERING

A man dies, passes through the gates of hell, queues for his punishment and gains introspection in this macarbre three-parter from Symphonic Annihilation.

Intricate solos, mournful strings, brutal death growls, summoning screams and symphonic enwonderment greet you on a three part journey as we observe one man's journey into hell, passing through it's gates, descending through its 'rings', lumbering his way through an endless queue of afflicted souls on their way to recieve the ULTIMATE punishment. This is the thought provoking concept presented to us by SYMPHONIC ANNILIATION, a combination of symphonic, death and blackened metal. It really is a journey to behold!

Ben Sebastian and Face Ripper Records have had the privilige to react and review all three tracks of this epic saga that started in May this year. Matt, the formidible composer behind Symphonic Annihilation, confesses that he is 'just that guy in his bedroom creating stuff' and whilst we admire his humility, we have to say that the sound he has created is awesome and he should be super proud of this creation.

The first track, Into The Gates Of Hell, is dark and vicious and really draws one into the horrid tale that follows, the orchestration is grand, yet not over-stated lending itself to generate an aura of darkness when combined with all the other typically 'metal' instruments. It's catchy, too, a nuance that appears throughout the collection. Fans of Amon Amarth, Cradle of Filth and pretty much everything in between will enjoy it. The second track, 'March Of The Damned' is a slightly lighter affair yet lumbering, as if one is actually in that queue to one's punishment and features a beautiful melodic guitar solo that finishes the piece wonderfully. The grand finale however, is the masterpiece of the series. The Weight Of Your Sin has a more progressive feel and combines all the elements of Matt's wizardry aside female vocal interludes.

We can't sell this enough to you, its a must-listen debut. Matt talks of a wider concept, about being trapped in ones head, in ones suffering, with ones faults and so forth and he has depicted this journey into hell both in the actuality, in the metaphorically, and in our imagination perfectly and profoundly.
